#Reaper error initializing asio driver install
I actually had to inplace install windows last month in order to fix windows files that went missing for some reason. Cubase and reaper ran fine.you know?I was having some issues earlier last month with cpu/latency. About 20 days left on thedemo.even though it runs now, I really am not inspired with confidence by an app that reboots or hangs on running it for the first time.you know? Even on a somewhat compromised system.

In my case, I needed to do the reinstall anyway, since a software support company had asked me to update a bunch of chipset and video drivers-which of course didn't fix the issue I was having, but KILLED the ASIO performance of my machine.Īnyway, I just restored from my safety image.less than 30min later.had to reinstall a handful of plug ins that had been added/upgraded since the image.I digress. They cost less than $100.Had the same issue.

I personally can't recommend monitors, but I have Audio Technica ATH-M50 monitor headphones recommended to me by a professional audio engineer.

You have to make sure the focusrite is set as your default input AND output (at least on a pc not sure about Macs) iirc. There's a 1/4" adapter that would allow you to use that mini jack, but I have no idea what results you'd get. I think that does answer your question, which was, do your stereo speakers work with the Focusrite? The 6.35 mm jack has nowhere to go in the focusrite. What kind of Studio Monitors do people recommend that aren't too expensive? I can only hear if I were to plug the speakers into the headphone socket, but I don't think it's supposed to be done that way if you're meant to be able to plug it into the back. When I use one of those RCA jacks as mentioned above and plug it into the balanced ports, I can't hear anything out of my speakers. All that comes with the Focusrite is a diagram which shows where to plug things into, but that diagram doesn't even show that back side of the audio interface but only where to plug in from the front. The answers aren't in the instructions regarding those kinds of speakers but only studio monitors. Should I be able to hear regular sounds (eg YouTube videos) out of my speakers when I have the Focusrite plugged in, or would I only hear my instrument out of it if plugged in? But I still can't hear anything out of my speakers. What should I do? Should I reinstall my driver? Is the problem with Focusrite or with Reaper? I have tried relaunching Reaper several times and even rebooting my computer, but it is always the same problem.ĮDIT: I reinstalled and it shows up now. There should be something like Input 1 or Input 2, but it doesn't appear at all. And then under Enable Inputs or Output range, there is absolutely nothing in the scroll down menu.

Under ASIO driver it merely says "Focusrite USB ASIO" but not the specific driver. I have my Focusrite plugged into my USB port.įor Audio System, I have ASIO selected. On my control panel it shows that the Focusrite USB 4.36.5.0 is installed, but when I go into the preferences on Reaper, this doesn't show up. There is usually an error message when I launch Reaper which says "There was an error opening the audio hardware. I am not sure if it works or not because I am having trouble with Reaper detecting any kind of driver at the moment. I've tried using something like that now. Or if you wanted to use the 1/4" jacks get that version. If you wanted to plug it into the RCA jacks you could use something like this: Have you read the instructions? All your answers are there. Do I just get an adaptor for one one of the balanced ones and plug it into a single port rather than both? That doesn't fit into the unbalanced line outputs anyway now that I try it. So that mono jack only needs to plug into one and not both of the ports on the back? Is this not the correct type of speaker? Do I need a different type of speaker instead in order to hear out of it? If so, what kind of speakers?Ĭan I just use headphones if I don't have a speaker that is compatible with the Focusrite? How would I plug this into either the balanced or unbalanced sockets on the back of the Scarlett since that seems to be designed for two leads? What kind of speakers do I need to plug into the Scarlett 2i4? I have a set of mini Goodman speakers, both of which only have what looks like a single 3.5mm mono jack plug between the two of them rather than two jack plugs as shown in the attached picture.
